Versace, Gucci, Givenchy and Coach extend apologies to Chinese people

Global luxury brands Versace, Gucci, Givenchy and Coach have extended their apologies to Chinese people after they posted T-shirt that listed Hong Kong and Macau as independent countries from China.

The T-shirts face severe backlash from China’s Sina Weibo social media network. China’s Versace ambassador, Yang Mi further ended her contract with the company citing:  “China’s territorial integrity and sovereignty are sacred and inviolable at all times.”

Coach too posted an apology on its Twitter account and mentioned that it removed the T-shirts from sale after it found a “serious inaccuracy” in May 2018.

Gucci previously apologised in May after sending letters to six Hong Kong stores warning them not to sell replica paper handbags and fashion items bearing its brand to burn at Chinese funerals.
