Former footballer Ander Ruiz: “I would recommend workouts based on intensity”

Spaniard Ander Ruiz, former footballer with Deportivo Alaves Academy and currently player manager of  ISL team FC Goa spoke with The Playknox about his fitness routine during the lockdown period due to Covid-19.

 

What has been your fitness routine during the workout?

Mornings usually I go for a long walk or a jog. My daily target is to do a minimum of 10k step. And evenings I focus more on weight training alternating upper body and lower body workouts.

 

What are some of the indoor exercises you would recommend others to do?

Due to the lack of equipment I would recommend workouts based on intensity and on exercise that includes multiple muscle groups such as squats , burpees, push ups.

 

Any fitness apps/influencer you follow?

To be honest I’m keeping an eye on what are the football players doing during this lockdown and also I follow some accounts on Instagram That inspire me like @stevecook, @bazmanscience or @tyronehermitt17

 

How are you maintaining a healthy diet during lockdown? What are your binge eating habits?

Personally I am finding it very easy to eat healthier than ever because we are all having more free time in our hands to cook and to be conscious about what we are eating. I’m following an intermittent fasting diet in which I fast for 16 hours and I have two meals in the remaining 8 hours. It is working really good for me.

Being mentally fit is as important as being physically fit. How do you keep yourself mentally fit?

Absolutely ! Train your mind and you body will follow . I’m reading a lot these days and I have started learning Italian online .

Sports has taken a hit due to COVID19. What are your post-lockdown plans?

I’m dying to be back on the pitch and play football .And obviously looking forward to be back home with my family and friends .
