Birmingham City FC have entered the eSports and blockchain realm with Ultimo GG partnership.
This partnership will see Blues and Ultimo GG collaborate to launch a number of esports initiatives over an initial two-year term; including an esports platform, an esports team and a number of esports events for players of all abilities, with finals held at St. Andrew’s.
Over the first few months of the partnership, Ultimo GG will be hosting online tournaments with Blues merchandise up for grabs; the team will be converting a matchday hospitality box into a gaming paradise to give away to fans; and the first marquee St. Andrew’s stadium event will coincide with FIFA 22’s launch in October.
Birmingham City FC and Ultimo GG will also collaborate on a number of blockchain projects, with plans to release an NFT collection and exclusive fan token in the coming months.
James Corrigan, commercial manager at Birmingham City FC, said: “We hope our move into esports is something that will really resonate with our fanbase. This partnership benefits our supporters immensely, with regular competitions, merchandise, player appearances and, eventually, the creation of our own Blues esports team.
“The collaboration with Ultimo GG opens brand new doors to huge markets for the Club, and we hope our fans really embrace the platform and are excited for what is in store.”
