LiveScore, the global sports media business, and one of the world’s leading real-time sports updates and streaming service providers, has announced it has secured the exclusive rights to broadcast the FIFA Club World Cup free-to-air to fans in Ireland.
Football fans in Ireland will be able to watch the tournament for free, delivered via the LiveScore app and website, in line with LiveScore’s unique free-to-air model for world football events. The deal, brokered by SARAN Media Group, follows LiveScore’s existing rights deal within Ireland to live-stream all UEFA Champions League matches for free on the LiveScore app and website until 2024.
The FIFA Club World Cup, currently held by Chelsea, is an international men’s club competition, featuring some of the most successful teams from around the world. Teams competing this year include UEFA Champions League holders Real Madrid, Egyptian side Al Ahly SC, Auckland City, CAF Moroccan champions Wydad AC, Saudi outfit Al-Hilal, MLS’ Seattle Sounders and Brazilian side Flamengo.
The tournament starts on February 1st 2023, when Al Ahly will take on Auckland City in the opening match, and will culminate in the final kicking off at 7pm GMT on Saturday 11th February.
Ric Leask, Marketing Director at LiveScore, said: “At LiveScore, we bring fans closer to the sports they love. We believe fans should have access to the biggest football matches and events, without having to pay extortionate prices, especially in the current economic climate.
“We are thrilled to be bringing more football to fans in Ireland through our successful free-to-air model. The reception from fans in the region to our Champions League broadcasts has been hugely positive and we’re excited to build on this success by adding the FIFA Club World Cup to our offering.”
