The National Football League and Enthusiast Gaming Holdings Inc. have announced a first-of-its-kind gaming collaboration bringing together NFL players and Legends and top gaming content creators from marquee gaming organizations including Luminosity Gaming. We spoke to Enthusiast Gaming President, Bill Kara to find out more. Excerpts:
Tell us about the partnership.
NFL Tuesday Night Gaming is a first-of-its-kind gaming tournament and content program bringing together some of the biggest names in the NFL and gaming. Almost every Tuesday during the NFL regular season, a rotating roster of 12 NFL players or Legends and 6 top gaming content creators will compete head-to-head across popular video game titles. After each week’s gameplay, teams will earn points with the top four teams at the end of the season qualifying for a two-part playoff series, where one team will be crowned champion of the inaugural NFL Tuesday Night Gaming season.
Beyond the playoffs, the first season will conclude with an All-Star Game coinciding with Super Bowl Week. In this exciting activation, fans will be able to vote for their favorite NFL players, Legends, and gaming content creators to compete in a special edition gaming night. The winning team will receive a cash prize to donate to the charity of their choice. What’s more, during the offseason the Tuesday Night Gaming program will continue to activate around NFL tentpoles like the Draft, Free Agency, Training Camps, and more.
What kind of gaming content will we see?
All kinds. The goal of this show is to create something memorable that spotlights the intersection of gaming, sports, and modern culture. Premiering September 13th at 6:30 PM ET on YouTube and continuing almost every Tuesday during the NFL regular season, fans will tune in to watch some of their favorite gaming creators and NFL stars team up and go head-to-head across various game titles.
Additionally, the program includes daily, always-on content across both NFL Tuesday Night Gaming and NFL channels. Content will contain everything from unique custom series to talent spotlights, challenge videos, highlights, and more to create an ecosystem of content surrounding both NFL & gaming talent.
What is the marketing strategy behind this?
NFL Tuesday Night Gaming will be promoted across Enthusiast Gaming, NFL, talent (both NFL players & Legends and gaming creators), and Tuesday Night Gaming channels. Enthusiast Gaming will be officially kicking off the program on September 8 at the 2022 NFL Kickoff Experience Concert & Watch Party in Long Beach, CA where we’ll be creating content with fans, hosting a few talent meet and greets, giveaways, and more. What is the strategy behind this partnership for the NFL?
The NFL came to Enthusiast Gaming searching for a solution to break into gaming to reach younger audiences and convert them into lifetime fans of the NFL. Long story short, the National Football League chose Enthusiast Gaming as their partner for two reasons: the concept and our scale. They loved the idea of an ambitious, and unique, gaming competition operated by the largest vertically integrated gaming company in the world.
