Network Ten and Paramount Plus to make a joint bid for AFL broadcast

Network Ten and their streaming partner Paramount Plus are making a joint bid for the entire AFL broadcasting package from the end of 2024, as per The Age.

The move could result in both splitting the nine games per round between streaming and free-to-air broadcasts. Senior executives of the networks will also meet Amazon senior executives.

As part of the same company, Network Ten and Paramount Plus have the advantage of being able to pitch for the entire package of AFL games – including AFLW – in one joint bid. This differs from the incumbent broadcasters, Seven and Foxtel (which includes streaming service Kayo), with the former owning three and a half games per round on free to air, and Foxtel having five and a half matches. Seven has exclusive rights to the grand final.
