Real Madrid and PlayStation have signed a strategic partnership for the Spanish market in a link-up through which the two parties aim to raise the standard and take the world of entertainment and sport to the next level.
The agreement includes Real Madrid’s men’s and women’s football first teams and the basketball team, as well as the whole PlayStation ecosystem, including PS VR and the digital services PlayStationPlus and PlayStation Now.
Meanwhile, the partnership sees the new PlayStation 5 (PS5) and PlayStation4 become Real Madrid’s official consoles. This deal enables the two brands to create synergies and make the world of football and basketball even greater, both in real life and through the console.
Real Madrid’s director of institutional relations, Emilio Butragueño, reflected on the agreement in the following terms: “We welcome PlayStation as Real Madrid’s official console. The partnership between these two leading brands aims to offer our fans a connection platform between the club and the virtual world through new and unique experiences”.
For her part, Lilliana Laporte, general manager of Sony Interactive Entertainment Iberia, commented: “We’re really happy to be announcing this strategic partnership between PlayStation and Real Madrid, which sees both brands put all of their efforts into offering millions of people a great many hours of entertainment, both on the traditional sports field and virtually. We’re really looking forward to seeing just what we can achieve together in the future”.
Supporters will be able to purchase an exclusive Real Madrid EA SPORTS FIFA21 hardware bundle and a PlayStationPro (1TB), which comes with a wireless DUALSHOCK4 controller. This will be available from 9 October, the global launch date of the FIFA21 video game, whilst the package will also include an Ultimate Team (FUT 21) downloadable content code featuring a unique gold players pack and three cards of iconic players that are valid for five matches.
